Ukraine and the European Union are scaling up their support for battlefield-ready innovation. The new EU4UA Defence Tech programme will provide €3.3 million in funding to Ukrainian teams developing cutting-edge defense technologies.

The initiative was announced jointly by Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova.

Phase one focuses on strengthening air defense through:

  • High-speed interceptor systems (450+ km range)
  • Radar technologies

Selected projects can receive up to €150,000 — twice the amount available under regular Brave1 grants — to validate technologies, build prototypes, and conduct testing.

Applications open on December 1 and close on January 14, 2026. Eligible teams must have solutions at TRL 5–6.

The programme also includes regulatory support, a defense tech hackathon, and the launch of the Brave1 Expo Room.

"Protecting Ukraine’s skies means protecting lives — and security across all of Europe. These grants will help bring new game-changing technologies to market and strengthen Ukraine’s defense capacity and technological autonomy," said Mykhailo FedorovVice Prime Minister for Innovation and Digital Transformation.

EU4UA Defence Tech is funded by the European Union and implemented by BRDO in partnership with Brave1. The programme will run from September 2025 to February 2027.
