The agreement (in the form of an exchange of letters) between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of France on the restoration of the agreement on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, signed on June 7, 2024, in Paris, has been approved.
This was reported by Taras Melnychuk, the Government’s permanent representative to the Verkhovna Rada.
The agreement restores the validity of the cooperation agreement in the peaceful use of nuclear energy between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of France, originally signed in Kyiv on September 3, 1998.
Melnychuk noted that the document establishes a legal framework for cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and creates conditions for collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including the maintenance of Ukraine’s existing nuclear fleet, nuclear fuel cycle services, and the construction of new nuclear reactors and small modular reactors.
