The Government Office for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the language technology company Tilde, and the National Artificial Intelligence Center of Latvia have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

“The document establishes a framework for collaboration in the development of language models, exchange of expertise, and implementation of AI tools to support Ukraine’s institutional capacity on its path to EU membership,” the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration stated.

During the signing, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Taras Kachka, said that Ukraine is currently in an active phase of negotiations for EU accession, and the next 24 months are decisive.

“Right now, it is crucial to combine efforts to implement not only legislation but also tools that strengthen the state’s institutional capacity,” he added.

According to him, such tools include artificial intelligence technology, particularly for translating and analyzing large volumes of EU legal acts. Equally important is maintaining the Ukrainian language’s authenticity and its proper models in public documents related to the EU integration track.

“The language technology company Tilde was chosen as the most suitable solution for Ukraine’s needs, as this platform takes into account the specifics of the Ukrainian language, including its phraseology, morphology, and stylistics, ensuring authentic translations. This solution will also allow for the future scaling of the technology to involve other ministries, government bodies, and enterprises. The cooperation includes an exchange of expertise between the parties’ experts, joint development of language models, and support for new digital services,” the statement reads.
