In Ukraine, more than 570 MW of new decentralized capacity in the municipal sector have already been commissioned. Over 500 MW are planned to be brought online in 2026.

This was reported by the Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksiy Kuleba.

“Together with international partners, we have introduced nearly 600 cogeneration units, about 400 block-modular boiler plants, and 28 gas-turbine installations. Most of this equipment is already installed or in the final stages of commissioning,” he noted.

According to him, in 2025, the distributed generation sector became one of the key measures for stabilizing the operation of district heating systems, water utilities, and other critical infrastructure under shelling conditions.

“Cogeneration units, block-modular boiler plants, and gas-turbine installations operate close to consumers and can be run independently. This means that a boiler plant can function even if a large CHP is damaged, and pumping stations can provide water supply without relying on the electricity grid,” Kuleba emphasized.
