Ukraine’s defense company Airlogix and Czech PBS Group have agreed to localize the production of PBS turbine engines in Ukraine. The engines will be manufactured locally and used to power unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, Airlogix said.
A memorandum on the production of small turbine engines was signed on July 21 during the Farnborough International Airshow. The localization process will be carried out gradually, with the companies currently finalizing an official licensing agreement.
The engines will be installed on Airlogix’s Ukrainian-made drones.
“The project will move in phases, starting with an assembly facility and a certified service center, followed by deeper local manufacturing. This step secures a steady supply of engines for next-generation Airlogix platforms while creating high-tech jobs locally,” the Ukrainian manufacturer said.
PBS Group also confirmed the agreement on its website. The Czech company said that, alongside joint production in Ukraine, the partners would manufacture Airlogix drones equipped with PBS engines in the Czech Republic, initially to serve the Ukrainian market.
“This partnership combines PBS’s extensive experience in the development and production of aerospace propulsion systems with Ukraine’s rapidly growing unmanned systems industry. The exchange of know-how and transfer of production capabilities will help strengthen the defense capabilities of both countries and Europe as a whole,” the Czech company said.
