On the night of Monday, Ukraine's Defense Forces destroyed 42 Shahed-type attack drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force's press service.
"As of 09:00, 42 Shahed-type attack drones (and other types of UAVs) have been confirmed shot down in the east, north, and south of the country. Additionally, 21 imitation drones have been lost in specific locations (with no negative consequences)," the report states on Telegram.
In total, Russia's army attacked Ukraine with 116 strike UAVs, imitation drones of other types, and two ballistic missiles.
"On the night of May 5, 2025 (from 23:00 on May 4), the Russian forces attacked Sumy region with two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Kursk, Russia, as well as 116 strike UAVs and imitation drones of other types from the regions of Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Russia, and Prymorsk in the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region," the Air Force informed.
The enemy's aerial assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
As a result of the enemy attack, Sumy and Donetsk regions were affected.
