The delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, on instructions from the President of Ukraine, discussed technical details of the “Drone Deal” agreement with the United States.
The main purpose of the Ukrainian representatives’ visit was to discuss with US teams the purchase of Ukrainian-made drones and their effective use.
The Ukrainian side presented its developments regarding proposals for specific models, their effectiveness, and conditions of use. The MoD team held meetings with representatives of all branches and services of the US military, during which they discussed the needs of the US Army for Ukrainian drones.
The US team noted Ukraine’s expertise in developing the drone sector — producing not only UAVs but also maritime drones and ground robotic systems.
The negotiations of the technical teams were a preparatory stage for signing the “Drone Deal,” which President Volodymyr Zelensky had announced earlier. The agreement concerns the purchase of Ukrainian drones over the duration of a five-year contract. In addition, the possibility of joint production of a number of Ukrainian models is envisaged.
Separately, the Ukrainian and American teams discussed supplying US weapons to Ukraine using the PURL mechanism. A key topic was the plans for deliveries in 2026 and the possibility of increasing the volumes of supply.
