In Ukraine, the Vegvisir Core system will be deployed to enhance situational awareness for the crews of military vehicles. Defensphere, the developer of Vegvisir Core, announced the signing of their first contract for the system in collaboration with DefSecIntel.

"This is the first step in supporting Ukraine, and we will do more in the near future," the company stated.

What is Vegvisir Core?

Vegvisir Core is a technology that enables users to observe, orient, decide, and act faster on the battlefield and in critical situations. According to the manufacturer, this system allows the crew of armored vehicles to "see through walls." Vegvisir Core utilizes cameras, sensors, and image processing algorithms to provide a 360-degree MR/VR image to the vehicle crew with a display in the military transport.

As a result, the crew inside the armored vehicle can see not only its immediate surroundings but also enemy positions in real-time at distances of up to 10 km, according to Defensphere.

Key features of Vegvisir:

• Modular configuration that allows the use of individual solutions to address 95% of potential user tasks.

• Four levels of backup sensors: the driver's sensor system, a close-range sensor system with bird's-eye view capability, a medium-range sensor system with a full infrared channel, and the commander's long-range sight.

• Durable helmet displays with VR interface or screen options.

• A 360-degree suspension of the commander's sight with four points of view and a range of up to 10 km.

• Low-light optics for night driving.

• Multispectral sensing.

Vegvisir is developed according to NATO military standards and is integrated with other battlefield platforms, including unmanned ground vehicles. The system already has accreditation for compliance with NATO STANAG standards.

Defensphere was established in 2021 and plans to conduct a second round of funding in 2022 to expand its team of engineers and sales. In addition to Vegvisir Core, the company also offers another product—Vegvisir Remote—a sophisticated situational awareness system optimized for remote use with low bandwidth. Its primary application is for piloted or unmanned platforms that require remote control.
