The European Union has noted a growing demand for asylum among Ukrainians — in the first half of 2025, the number of applications increased by nearly one-third.
This was reported by the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA).
According to the report, Ukrainians submitted 16,000 asylum applications during this period, which is 29% more than in the previous year.
This trend is explained by Ukrainians’ desire to secure long-term stability, as obtaining asylum status allows them to remain in the granting country in the future.
France has recently become a particularly attractive destination for Ukrainian citizens, with the majority of asylum applications being filed there.
It is worth noting that all Ukrainians arriving in the EU are automatically covered by the Temporary Protection Directive, which also provides a range of important rights and guarantees.
