Despite the absence of a Russian strike force on the territory of Belarus, Ukrainian intelligence has detected the expansion of military infrastructure there.
This was reported during a television broadcast by Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“Activity on the territory of Belarus is being observed in terms of the further development of military infrastructure. This includes training grounds, locations where personnel or equipment could be stationed in the future, and logistics routes. Most of this activity is taking place in the direction of Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. It is less visible near our western regions — Volyn and Rivne regions,” Demchenko said.
According to him, Russia continues to pressure Belarus in an attempt to persuade it to take a more active role in the war against Ukraine.
“In general, as noted by intelligence units, Russia continues to pressure Belarus so that it joins the war launched by Russia against our country on a larger scale with its own forces. Belarus is resisting this pressure and is trying in every possible way not to give in. However, the threat to Ukraine in this direction remains, and our task is, first and foremost, to strengthen defensive capabilities along the border and in border areas in order to be prepared for any possible developments,” Demchenko said.
