Trying to keep emotions in check, I will draw your attention only to the following:

Diplomats clearly have no chance of winning during active hostilities — this is the time of the military. Only success on the battlefield creates opportunities for diplomacy.

Russia’s narrative and negotiation position in talks with the Americans — namely that Ukraine has no chance of winning under any circumstances — has been once again masterfully, effectively, and demonstratively undermined.

Another narrative — often echoed in the media and sadly by some politicians — that the Russia–Ukraine war is taking place only in Ukraine, has been shattered. This is clearly not true. The war is also being fought on Russian territory — across the entire Russian territory. The idea of a deep and untouchable rear as an unconditional advantage is now in question.

The enemy should not be underestimated. Of course, they will try to deliver a retaliatory strike. Most likely, it will aim to intimidate and attempt to reclaim the initiative. A response in typical Russian fashion is very possible — not against military targets, but a terrorist-style attack with maximum informational impact.

No matter how events unfold, it’s clear that a war of attrition is unsustainable for either side. Therefore, we should expect escalation in the coming weeks and months. This is the only way a path out of this large-scale war might emerge. Unfortunately, there is no other option for now.

And most importantly: new technologies, combined with professionalism and the resourcefulness innate to Ukrainians, make it possible — even in a full-scale war — to preserve the lives of Ukrainian defenders and avoid unnecessary casualties (paradoxically, even among enemy ranks).

The heroism and resilience of Ukrainians, and their ability to stand firm in an asymmetric fight, can influence not only partners, but even the enemy — one once thought to be invincible.

Eternal glory to all who gave their lives defending the country!

Glory to those who refuse to surrender and bring Ukraine’s victory closer!
