According to Kim, the Russian military on the Kinburn Spit does not pose a big threat directly to Mykolaiv.

There are no civilians left on the temporarily occupied Kinburn Spit, and there are only Russian invaders.

This was stated by the head of the Mykolaiv regional administration Vitaly Kim, Radio Liberty reports. According to him, the last civilians were taken out in the direction of Crimea less than a week ago.

"There are zero civilians left there. About a little less than a week ago, the Russians forcibly evicted them and took them in the direction of Crimea. I don't know further than Crimea. Only 37 people remained there. These are small villages, they basically lived there at the expense of tourists, in winter, 100-200 people lived there in peacetime. Therefore, now there are only enemy soldiers there," the official said.

According to Kim, the Russian military on the Kinburn Spit does not pose a big threat directly to Mykolaiv.

“They are now basically focused on maintaining the territories and we don’t see that they are preparing from there for some kind of promotion. That is, their task is to keep as many territories as possible,” he explained.

  • The Kinburn Spit is a sandy spit between the Dnieper-Bug Estuary and the Black Sea. On November 11, Kim announced that the entire Mykolaiv region had been liberated from Russian invaders, but the Kinburn Spit remained under occupation.
  • ISW analysts claim that if the Armed Forces of Ukraine take control of the Kinburn Spit, they will be able to repel attacks from the Russian invaders on the Black Sea coast controlled by Kyiv.
