In Rome, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella.

The Ukrainian leader thanked Italy for its support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its continuous attention to the country during Italy's G7 presidency.

"I remember all our meetings, and they always ended with us finding solutions to very difficult issues. One of those issues is the protection of people's rights in Ukraine and safeguarding our sovereignty and territorial integrity. I'm glad that your position in support of Ukraine, our people, and our children has always been steadfast," said Zelensky.

 

The President of Ukraine spoke about the situation on the front lines and Russia's missile terror against civilians.

The meeting also covered the continuation of military aid to Ukraine. Zelensky thanked Italy for its significant military and technical support, particularly for approving the 10th aid package.

He emphasized the need for joint actions from partner countries to achieve a just and lasting peace to end the war.

Zelensky also acknowledged Italy's firm stance on maintaining sanctions against Russia.

Among the key topics discussed was the return of Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia.

The President also expressed gratitude for Italy’s care for Ukrainian orphans who are currently in Italy due to Russia’s aggression.

Additionally, they discussed preparations for the international conference on Ukraine's reconstruction, set to take place on July 10-11 in Rome. Zelensky noted that Italian experts could contribute to the restoration of Ukraine's cultural heritage.

The Ukrainian leader invited the President of Italy to visit Ukraine.
