Ukraine supports an energy ceasefire and is awaiting further details from the United States, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a Facebook post.
Zelensky reported that he had just held a conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
"We discussed the energy ceasefire announced by President Trump. Ukraine supports the ceasefire, and it is important that Russia supports it as well. We are awaiting details from the American side," Zelensky said.
The president emphasised that Ukraine has always fully supported steps towards de-escalation, the protection of human lives and the decisions necessary to end the war and ensure lasting peace.
US President Donald Trump has announced an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, which he said takes effect immediately and has already been agreed to by both sides.
"From this moment, an 'ENERGY CEASEFIRE' in the war between Russia and Ukraine comes into effect," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
In September, Trump made a similar announcement about an energy ceasefire, but the claim was subsequently denied by both Kyiv and Moscow.
