Ukraine and the European Investment Bank have signed agreements providing €16.5 million from the EIB for the restoration of critical infrastructure and the implementation of energy efficiency measures, as well as €100 million for the restoration of water and heat supply facilities and wastewater management.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram.

"Ukraine and the European Investment Bank have signed agreements providing funding for the restoration of energy and critical infrastructure. The signing took place during our meeting with EIB President Nadia Calviño," he wrote.

Shmyhal specified that the EIB is allocating €16.5 million for the restoration of critical infrastructure and the implementation of energy efficiency measures.

At the same time, the second agreement paves the way for receiving €100 million for the restoration of water and heat supply facilities and wastewater management, as well as for the modernization of key social services in education, healthcare, and the housing sector.

"We are grateful to the bank for its help in rebuilding infrastructure damaged by Russian aggression," the prime minister noted.

The head of government also informed that the parties separately discussed financing within the framework of bilateral cooperation. According to him, the overall EIB project portfolio in Ukraine is one of the largest, consisting of 25 projects worth €4.95 billion. These projects cover the areas of transport, social infrastructure, and energy.

"I also highlighted other urgent priorities of our cooperation that require further investments, including border crossing points and road infrastructure, support for small and medium-sized businesses, municipalities, and the stability of the energy sector," he emphasized.

Shmyhal added that economic issues were also addressed during the meeting. The prime minister spoke about key budget expenditures for this year and emphasized the importance of supporting small and medium-sized businesses.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the EIB has mobilized over €2 billion to support Ukraine. We appreciate this significant contribution to strengthening our country's resilience and development," he stated.
