The Ministry of National Defense of Romania announced that as a result of inspections, fragments of two "Geran 1/2" drones, which were used by the Russian Federation to attack Ukrainian port infrastructure on the Danube, were found on the ground.
This was reported by the Romania Journal.
It is noted that one Geran 1/2 drone crashed approximately one kilometer from the Danube, near the border with Ukraine, and its fragments were found about 5 km west of the city of Reni.
The second Geran 1/2 drone was also discovered on Romanian territory near the border, 500 meters from the riverbank, about 5 km south of the city of Reni.
As a result of the on-site investigations, it was determined that both drones were carrying explosives that detonated upon impact with the ground.
Both locations are outside populated areas, and no infrastructure elements in Romanian territory were damaged.
The Ministry of National Defense of Romania forces will continue to monitor the airspace and conduct research missions in areas where risks may arise due to these situations.
