Russian forces have deployed additional troops to the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky and the surrounding community under the cover of a humanitarian operation. Ukraine's military command has been instructed to present proposals for strengthening the protection of Kherson.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this following a meeting with the heads of regional administrations.
"Unfortunately, under the cover of a humanitarian operation in Oleshky, the Russian army carried out a significant rotation of personnel and equipment on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Additional occupation forces were deployed to Oleshky and the surrounding community. The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine must present proposals for additional measures to protect lives in Kherson from Russian terror," Zelenskyy stated.
Regarding the Sumy region, the President said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had been assigned specific tasks to counter Russian operations. He thanked all emergency services, municipal utility workers, energy companies and the regional department of the State Emergency Service for their work.
The President also received separate reports on the situation in Sumy, Okhtyrka and Shostka.
The meeting included briefings on the resilience plan and preparations of critical infrastructure for winter in the Kharkiv region, as well as efforts to restore electricity following Russian strikes on the Dnipropetrovsk region earlier in the day.
The situation in the Zhytomyr region was also discussed in detail, particularly the challenges facing the energy system and electricity distribution and transmission facilities.
"A separate task has been assigned to the Ministry of Energy in this regard," the President said.
Zelenskyy also received a report on the situation in Zaporizhzhia and measures to meet the region's needs.
The meeting also addressed developments in the Donetsk region, particularly in Kramatorsk. According to the President, Russian forces have significantly intensified their strikes on the city and the surrounding community.
