Russian forces today, on April 29, used a rocket with shrapnel for a strike on Odessa. It was intended to eliminate personnel. Such ammunition is designed to target personnel and poses a threat primarily to people, rather than vehicles and buildings.

This was stated by the chief of the Strategic Communications Center of the Southern Defense Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk.

He noted that experts are still determining the type of munitions used by the Russians for the strike.

"However, I can confirm that there are holes from shrapnel on the walls around the affected area, which is used to eliminate personnel and engage in combat operations. But not for strikes on civilian infrastructure and civilians," emphasized Pletenchuk.

As a result of the attack, a fire broke out in the student palace of the local law academy.

32 people were injured, including 25 who were hospitalized, including two children and a pregnant woman, according to the head of the regional administration, Oleg Kiper.

He said, "A girl who is not even five years old is in extremely serious condition. Six adults are also in intensive care."

The strike hit near the International Humanitarian University's reception house, also known as "Kivalov's courtyard," a popular recreational area for residents.
