On the night of October 21, Ukraine experienced a massive attack from Russian forces, which utilized various types of missiles and Shahed drones.
According to the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, starting from 8:00 PM on October 20 until the morning of October 21, as of 9:30 AM, the radio technical troops detected and tracked 119 aerial objects involved in the assault.
Among these were one Iskander-M ballistic missile launched from occupied Crimea, as well as guided air-to-surface missiles X-35 and X-31P fired from the airspace over the Black Sea. The majority of the aerial attack consisted of drones—116 drones launched from Russian territories, including Kursk, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups actively repelled the attacks. As of now, 59 enemy drones have been confirmed shot down in various regions of Ukraine, including Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Sumy, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Poltava.
Additionally, 45 Russian drones lost communication during flight. Preliminary data suggests that up to 10 enemy drones are still in Ukrainian airspace. Despite the active efforts of the Defense Forces, some drones did hit civilian infrastructure, causing certain damages.
