A Ukrainian delegation led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is preparing for a visit to South Korea to discuss the possibility of military assistance. The visit is expected to take place on Wednesday.

According to sources cited by South China Morning Post, Kyiv plans to present a list of requests, including anti-aircraft missiles and artillery systems.

South Korea, which had previously limited its support to non-lethal aid, may reconsider its stance. President Yoon Suk-yeol recently stated that Seoul is open to considering arms supplies to Ukraine depending on the developments in military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. However, observers believe that the outcome of the U.S. presidential election, especially a potential victory for Donald Trump, could influence South Korea's cautious approach.

Experts highlight that Seoul's decision will depend on both internal and external factors, including pressure from Moscow and resistance within South Korea's opposition. Some lawmakers have already threatened to initiate impeachment proceedings against the defense minister if South Korea agrees to supply weapons.

In response, Moscow has warned Seoul against such actions, stating that it would harm bilateral relations. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko emphasized that Seoul should avoid steps that could undermine its long-term national interests.

Against the backdrop of growing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, Ukraine continues to seek international support. President Volodymyr Zelensky previously confirmed plans to send a "detailed request" to South Korea for artillery and air defense systems.
