Serbia is negotiating a new 30-year gas supply contract with Russia. This is reported by the Polish publication Wprost, citing a statement by the president of the state-owned gas company Srbijagas, Dušan Bajatović.
The parties have already reached an agreement on the supply volumes. Under the new contract, Serbia will receive 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas annually through the "Balkan Stream" pipeline. Currently, the country imports 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas annually.

Since 2023, Serbia has been importing gas from Azerbaijan via Bulgaria, but it still heavily depends on Russian supplies. Domestic production covers only 15% of the annual demand.
Currently, Serbia is buying gas from Russia under a three-year contract that came into effect in 2022 and will expire in May 2025.
Unlike many European countries, Serbia has not made a decision to limit imports of Russian energy resources.
