Slovak activists of the 'Ammunition for Ukraine' initiative have already raised over 3 million euros for ammunition for Ukraine.
This is evidenced by the data from the fundraising website, launched last Tuesday.
At the time of writing this note, 3,098,574 million euros had already been raised. Overall, more than 50,000 people have joined the cause.
"Let's be brave together and help Ukraine defend itself. Contribute to the global initiative of the Czech government. Donate now!"
The fundraising campaign is the result of joint efforts by several organizations and activists with years of experience in assisting Ukraine, including Mier Ukrajine, Dárek pro Putina, Donio, and All4Ukraine. In this way, the organizations aim to support the Czech initiative to help Ukraine, which the Slovak government declined to join.
Many Slovak public figures have also supported the campaign, including 99-year-old Otto Šimko, who survived the Holocaust and participated in the Slovak uprising against the Nazis in 1944.
Despite more than 20 countries joining the Czech global initiative to purchase ammunition for Kyiv, the Slovak government decided not to participate, stating that the conflict 'has no military solution,' and that 'sending weapons to Ukraine only prolongs the war.'
