Vladyslav Horai, a renowned tenor and soloist of the Odesa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, was killed on June 8 while on a volunteer mission in Ukraine’s Sumy region.
The tragic news was announced by the Odesa Opera on Facebook, stating:
“A heartbreaking message has shaken Ukraine’s entire artistic community. Today, June 8, while carrying out his volunteer mission in the Sumy region, the soloist of the Odesa National Opera, a world-class tenor, volunteer, father, man of great heart, and Merited Artist of Ukraine — Vladyslav Horai — was killed.”
Colleagues from the opera emphasized that Horai’s voice was known around the world.
“Vladyslav was not only a stage talent — he was a model of strength, dignity, and kindness in life. Even in the darkest times, he did not stand aside — he helped, volunteered, and gave support. The Odesa National Opera is in mourning. The stage he brought to life will sound different without him.”
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire cultural community.
