Russia is preparing a new information campaign centred on the situation in the occupied city of Oleshky in Kherson region, according to Ukraine’s Security Service (SSU).

The SSU said it obtained information about the planned operation through counterintelligence activities. According to the agency, Russian military personnel from one unit have been instructed to prepare a series of interviews with residents of the occupied city.

The videos are expected to feature residents accusing Ukrainian forces of regularly shelling and blockading Oleshky, criticising decisions by Ukraine’s military and political leadership, and expressing support for Russian troops.

The SSU said the campaign is planned for October and early November. It did not provide further details about the Russian unit allegedly involved or evidence that could be independently verified.

Ukrainian authorities have warned that such material could subsequently appear on Russian and pro-Russian Telegram channels and other information platforms.

The SSU urged journalists and the public to treat potentially sensational reports concerning Oleshky with caution, verify information before sharing it and rely on official or otherwise verifiable sources.

The agency said it continues to monitor and counter Russian information and psychological operations targeting Ukraine.
