The Russian army does not have sufficient resources to create a buffer zone along the entire border with Ukraine. Its real goal is the full occupation of Ukrainian territories.

This was stated by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, during a broadcast.

The Russian forces lack the forces needed to establish a buffer zone along the entire Ukrainian-Russian border.

This particularly concerns directions within the Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions.

According to Demchenko, despite Moscow's statements, Russia’s goal remains not a defensive tactic but the complete seizure of Ukrainian territory.

“They definitely do not have the task of creating this buffer zone. Russia’s objective is solely the capture of all Ukrainian territories,” Demchenko said.

He clarified that the border length within the Sumy region alone is about 550 km. On some sections, the Russian forces attempt breakthroughs with small infantry groups but fail to succeed.

In the areas of Khotynska and Yunakivska communities, the Russians suffers heavy losses while operating without armored vehicles.

In the defense sectors manned by border guards working alongside the Armed Forces of Ukraine, dozens of Rusians have been eliminated and just as many wounded.

“Thanks to the resilience and heroism of Ukrainian defenders, enemy attempts have significantly decreased,” Demchenko added.
