Russian forces are shelling the border areas of Sumy region, deploying sabotage and reconnaissance groups to constrain the actions of Ukrainian defense forces and prevent their engagement on other fronts. Vadym Mysnyk, spokesperson for the Operational-Tactical Command Siversk, reported this during the Unified News telethon.

"The enemy is conducting shelling along the entire state border line, using their full arsenal of weapons. Sometimes they shell inhabited areas even with tanks, as they did yesterday, and employ strike drones and MLRS systems the day before yesterday. They attempt to shell civilian settlements along the entire border line, thereby keeping our units under pressure, immobilizing them so that we maintain cover of the state border," Mysnyk stated.

Responding to questions about Russian sabotage groups activities, the spokesperson noted that attempts at illegal border crossings are recorded, but it's difficult to precisely determine the enemy's intentions due to the constantly changing situation.

"The enemy's use of sabotage and reconnaissance groups remains active. We know they have such units, but in terms of quantity, it's not yet fully apparent, and these numbers don't provide the full picture. The enemy may be preparing to change tactics. Our technical and aerial reconnaissance, as well as ground-based optical reconnaissance, allows us to detect enemy movements toward the border, promptly identify them, provide a response, and eliminate them," the spokesperson added.

Russian forces conducted two attacks during the night and morning of June 27 on border communities in Sumy region, resulting in five explosions.

Over the past day, Russians have shelled 20 populated areas in Sumy region, causing injuries to civilians, livestock casualties, and damage to homes and beehives.
