The bodies of 563 fallen defenders have been returned to Ukraine as a result of repatriation efforts. Among them are 320 defenders who died in the Donetsk direction and 89 soldiers from the Zaporizhzhia direction.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Additionally, Ukraine managed to return 154 bodies from morgues in Russia.
The return was made possible through the coordination of various structures: employees of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War cooperated with the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other structures within the Security and Defense Sector.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are transporting the repatriated bodies to designated state institutions, where law enforcement officers and forensic experts will work to establish their identities.
