In early March, fierce fighting broke out between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian occupiers at the Mykolayiv International Airport. Ukrainian defenders repulsed the enemy's attacks and did not allow him to gain a foothold at an important strategic point. However, the airport came under devastating shelling by russians, who fired at least 10 times at MIA. On March 28, the invaders launched a missile strike, finally destroying the airport.

Nikolaev designer Alexander Ermolaev decided to recreate the international passenger airport Nikolaev from Lego, which Russian invaders destroyed.
