The EU, Denmark, and Lithuania have launched the "Ukraine2EU – Fund for Supporting Ukraine’s Integration into the EU" programme. Its total budget, formed by the founders, will be 14 million euros.
The programme will promote the management and coordination of the EU accession processes, harmonize Ukrainian legislation with European law, expand access to EU law expertise, and support and strengthen the potential of key Ukrainian institutions involved in the European integration process. It will also ensure public awareness about Ukraine’s accession process to the Union.
Denmark, which became part of the historic first wave of enlargement by joining the European Economic Community (the predecessor of the European Union) on January 1, 1973, played an exceptional role in supporting reforms during Lithuania's EU accession process.
Now, Lithuania, which celebrated the 20th anniversary of its EU membership last May, has decided to combine its efforts with Denmark to unconditionally and steadfastly support Ukraine’s aspiration to achieve full EU membership. The programme will help Ukrainian institutions with both expertise and financial resources to accelerate Ukraine's EU accession and assist in adapting the country to European standards and practices.
The programme, which will be implemented by the Lithuanian Central Programme Management Agency (CPVA), is set for 2025-2027.
