By the end of 2026, Ukrainians will be able to use digital documents in the EU, while Europeans will be able to use theirs in Ukraine. The Diia team, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, has successfully tested their compatibility with European digital wallets in accordance with the eIDAS 2.0 regulation—the unified digital standard for EU countries.

This means that Ukrainians will use digital documents abroad instead of paper copies or plastic cards. The European digital wallet will include various documents and services, such as:

  • identity verification for online government services;
  • electronic driver's license;
  • SIM card registration;
  • opening bank accounts;
  • electronic signature;
  • electronic prescriptions.

Thus, a unified digital space is gradually being formed in Europe, and Ukraine is set to become part of it. Integration is in progress!

The Ministry of Digital Transformation is working on adapting to the EU Digital Identity Wallet requirements with the support of the European Union under the DT4UA project, implemented by Estonia's e-Governance Academy.

Diia’s participation in the France- and Germany-led POTENTIAL pilot project is co-financed by the European Union.
