The European Union announced support for independent Ukrainian media in the amount of €3 million.
This was reported by the EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Mathernova.
She recalled that on November 18, during an attack on Dnipro, Russian drones destroyed the building of the regional editorial office of Suspilne Dnipro and the Ukrainian Radio information room. The explosions shattered windows and doors, partially collapsed ceilings and the roof, caused fires, and injured two people.
According to Mathernova, since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the EU has mobilized about a quarter of a billion euros to support civil society, journalists, and media.
“I don’t need to explain the importance of the independent media in Ukraine. Especially now, during the coruption scandal that has shaken the country. We talked about it with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and her ministerial team, as well as Deputy head of NABU, at today’s meeting with Ambassadors of EU Member States,” the ambassador emphasized.

Mathernova expressed support for Ukraine amid Russian attacks on its energy system, railways, media, and civilian population.
“Through Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, its railways, its media, its civilians — and even the “truth” itself as part of its hybrid warfare — EU stands with Ukraine. It stands not only with the country’s reforms and reconstruction, but also in defence of the values that define Europe: freedom of speech, transparency, access to independent media and integrity,” she added
