The first medical cannabis-based product may enter the Ukrainian market as early as January 2025, according to Olga Stefanyshyna, a member of the parliamentary committee on health, medical care, and medical insurance.
"Currently, as far as I know, the first registration of the medicinal product is already in process. We are hopeful that it will happen in December. We are very optimistic that in January (2025) we will be able to prescribe real medical cannabis-based medicines," she said at a press conference in Kyiv.
Stefanyshyna reported that Ukraine has the necessary regulatory framework for the circulation of medical cannabis products, but these medicines are still not available on the market.
"At the moment, everything is in place for patients to receive medical cannabis products today, except for the medical cannabis itself. Because, aside from the regulatory system, someone needs to register these medicines in Ukraine," she noted.
