The Ukrainian special service neutralized the enemy sabotage group.

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained the killers of the special services of the Russian Federation, who planned the murders of Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Kirill Budanov, as well as a well-known activist.

A multi-stage special operation was carried out and a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (better known as the GRU) was neutralized, according to the SBU Telegram channel.

According to the intelligence service, Russian "curators" promised to pay the perpetrators from USD 100 to 150 thousand for the murder of each person.

"… The DRG was formed by the officers of the military intelligence of the Russian Federation to carry out subversive activities on the territory of Ukraine. It included a resident of the temporarily occupied Lugansk, who, as part of the illegal armed formations of the terrorist organization "LPR", took an active part in the hostilities against the forces of the ATO in East," the SBU said.

The intelligence service added that on the instructions of the coordinator from Moscow, the attacker was looking for a killer, using connections among the criminals.

A resident of Kyiv agreed to become a killer. He agreed for a "test" - for $5,000 to kill a Ukrainian military man who, according to the Russian occupiers, was allegedly involved in the physical massacre of Russian prisoners of war.

"… in order to assassinate the heads of the defense departments, the "messenger" decided to arrive on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities personally. Here, together with an accomplice, they had to prepare a "liquidation" plan and submit it for approval to their leaders in the Russian Federation. The attacker masked the routes of movement, therefore entered Ukraine through the territory of Belarus," the SBU added.

The suspect entered Ukrainian territory through the Domanovo checkpoint in the Volyn region and met with an accomplice. The security forces detained both attackers in Kovel.

During the search, evidences of criminal acts were found, as well as a passport of a Russian citizen. Both detainees were informed of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law and premeditated murder.

"The enemy cannot win on the battlefield, so it resorts to their usual methods - they tries to organize assassination attempts on the military and heads of Ukrainian authorities. And thereby once again proves to the whole world that Russia is a terrorist state that does not follow any civilized rules. But we perfectly understand what to expect from the Russian Federation, so we act in advance and neutralize the enemy's special operations. We will continue to do this!" - emphasized acting Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk.

Crime detection measures were carried out by employees of the Main Department of the SBU in Kyiv and the Kyiv region together with units of the SBU of the Volyn region, the National Police and under the procedural guidance of the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv.
