Ukrainian intelligence recently conducted a special operation to evacuate Ukrainian citizens and nationals of several other countries from Israel, where the security situation has escalated.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine.
According to Main Intelligence Directorate, the operation was carried out on Sunday, June 22. Intelligence officers, together with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, managed to evacuate 176 people from Israel. Among them were 133 Ukrainian citizens, as well as nationals of Moldova, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, and the United States.
The plane with the passengers successfully landed in the Republic of Moldova. From there, the Ukrainians will continue their journey home.
“I was with my family on vacation in Tel Aviv, we went to take a break from the war, but we encountered the same horrors there: explosions, shelling. I went to the embassy website and submitted an evacuation request. And just a few days later, we are returning to Ukraine. Thanks to everyone who made this possible: our President Mr. Zelensky, the embassy, and the Main Intelligence Directorate,” said a Kyiv resident evacuated from Tel Aviv.
This operation was part of broader efforts to return Ukrainian citizens amid the worsening security situation in the Middle East.
Thanks to the efforts of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and support from international partners, Ukrainian citizens who wish to move to safer regions or return home are being successfully evacuated.
“When the shelling started, my little son and I were visiting my mother in Tel Aviv. Our flight was canceled, and my mother contacted the embassy for help to leave. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who helped us. Grateful to Ukraine for not abandoning its citizens in trouble. I’m happy to be here now,” shared the evacuated Kyiv woman.
