Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi participated via video conference in a meeting of the NATO–Ukraine Council in a military format at the level of Chiefs of Defence.

Oleksandr Syrskyi reported this on Facebook.

The Commander-in-Chief expressed sincere gratitude to partner countries for their substantial support in Ukraine’s struggle against the Russian invaders and briefly outlined the operational situation.

“We are striving for a just peace, but active hostilities are currently ongoing along a front line approximately 1,100 kilometers long. Despite diplomatic appeals, Russia has not abandoned its initial goals on the battlefield. Moscow has turned its aggression against Ukraine into a war of attrition and is employing a combined force of up to 640,000 troops. Our soldiers continue to conduct an effective defensive operation, inflicting significant losses on the enemy,” Syrskyi noted.

In his address to the participants of the NATO–Ukraine Council, the Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief raised the issue of individual and collective training of Ukrainian military personnel in partner countries, as well as the needs of Ukraine’s Defense Forces for military equipment, weaponry, and logistics.

Separately, Syrskyi thanked the Alliance for the work of the NATO Security Assistance and Support for Ukraine (NSATU) Special Mission. He emphasized the importance of continuing the implementation of projects under the NATO–Ukraine Interoperability Roadmap and the development of an Integrated Air and Missile Defense Architecture.

“Only a firm, consolidated stance from the international community can compel the aggressor to stop the war. The principled unity of our partners is critically important for achieving a just and lasting peace. I heard assurances from Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chair of the NATO Military Committee, that NATO’s support for Ukraine will remain unwavering,” Syrskyi stressed.
