On the night of Saturday, May 11, drones from the Main Intelligence Directorate attacked the Volgograd Oil Refinery in Russia. The refinery is part of the Lukoil corporation.
According to RBC-Ukraine, citing its own sources, the attack occurred around 3:45 AM. Currently, it is known that the primary oil refining units AVT-1 and AVT-6 at the plant have been damaged. Intelligence sources are clarifying their current condition.
Additionally, the control cable for the air coolers was damaged, resulting in the shutdown of 7 of them. The chimney of furnace P-1 was also damaged.
Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka is an oil and gas company in Volgograd, which commenced operations on December 21, 1957, initially producing gasoline. It has been part of PJSC Lukoil since the early 1990s.
The refinery processes a blend of low-sulfur West Siberian and Lower Volga region crude oil. Crude oil is supplied via the Samara-Tikhoretsk pipeline. Finished products are shipped by rail, river, and road transport.
The primary region for petroleum product supply is the Southern Federal District, with some products exported. As of 2015, the refinery's oil processing capacity was 12.6 million tons, with a design capacity of 15.7 million tons per year.
