The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned a representative of the Russian Embassy and handed him a note of protest, accusing Moscow of systematically committing war crimes against Ukraine.
The diplomat was told that such crimes have no statute of limitations and that all those responsible will inevitably face justice.
Vilnius emphasized its strong condemnation of the killings of unarmed Ukrainian prisoners of war, as well as the massive missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities that result in the deaths and serious injuries of civilians, including children, and destroy civilian infrastructure.
According to the Lithuanian side, Russia’s refusal to declare even a 30-day ceasefire demonstrates its intention to continue the war it started and effectively rejects the international community’s efforts to stop the killing of Ukrainians.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania affirmed it will continue to do everything possible to support Ukraine in its defense against Russia.
