On January 15, a ceremony took place with the participation of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, Martin Jaeger, during which around 100 vehicles were handed over to the units of the National Police and National Guard of Ukraine.
The vehicles will be used for public order protection and safeguarding critical infrastructure in Ukraine.
"The invaluable assistance from the Federal Republic of Germany will allow us to continue carrying out our core functions of protecting our citizens from crime at a high level and enable us to respond quickly to the challenges we face every day. Unfortunately, due to the war, these challenges are increasing, but thanks to your support, this response will be faster and more professional," said the Minister of Internal Affairs, addressing the partners.
In turn, Ambassador Martin Jaeger emphasized that it was an honor for him to be in Ukraine and personally deliver the assistance, which will be directed to the National Guard and National Police of Ukraine.
"Ukraine continues its heroic struggle against Russian aggression, and each of you plays an important role in this process. Without the daily work of the National Guard and National Police, security in Ukraine cannot be guaranteed. For me, as the Ambassador, and for the entire German Government, cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is a key aspect of our partnership, and the vehicles we have delivered are just part of our support. Our fruitful cooperation will continue," said Martin Jaeger, presenting the certificate for the vehicles to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko.
Following the event, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Ambassador of Germany inspected the vehicles.
In total, throughout 2024, in addition to the 100 vehicles, the units responsible for public order protection in the National Police and National Guard received computer equipment and protective gear from the German Government.
