On Tuesday, January 20, the Dutch government announced the allocation of an additional €23 million in energy assistance to Ukraine.

According to the government’s website, the funds will be used to purchase gas from abroad, carry out urgent repairs of power plants, and supply energy equipment from Dutch companies, including generators and cables.

This brings the Netherlands’ total contribution to Ukraine’s energy sector for 2026 to €133 million.

The new assistance was announced by the Netherlands’ Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Aukje de Vries, during her visit to Kyiv.

“Russia is using the cold as a weapon in its daily attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The Netherlands is providing an additional €23 million to help Ukraine purchase gas and carry out urgent repairs. We continue our unwavering support for Ukraine during this harsh winter,” the minister wrote on X.

She also reported that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Netherlands has delivered over 250 truckloads of energy supplies from Dutch companies to Ukraine. De Vries promised that energy support would continue.
