The President and the First Lady of Ukraine visited the exhibition “World of Skovoroda” in the Ukrainian House

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and First Lady Olena Zelenska visited the exhibition “The World of Skovoroda”, which opened in the National Center “Ukrainian House” for the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian thinker and writer Hryhoriy Skovoroda, which is celebrated on December 3.

The exhibition is designed to rethink the image of Grigory Skovoroda, to present new facets of his life and creative path, and to reveal the idea of personal freedom, which has been defeating darkness for 300 years.

The exhibition allows you to travel along the paths of the philosopher’s world and get to know his ideas, and at the same time – Ukraine and the world of the 18th century. Hryhoriy Skovoroda lived and worked at a time when great empires tried to destroy the Ukrainian nation and culture to consolidate Ukrainians. So the ideas of personal freedom, which the philosopher professed, became a light of hope for many Ukrainians even after his death.

“It is very important that such exhibitions are organized even during a full-scale war. “Svit Skovoroda” is about the idea of freedom in its various dimensions. And today we are fighting for our freedom,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.

As part of the “World of Skovoroda” project, you can take a 3D tour of the village of Skovorodynivka, in the Kharkiv region, where the National Literary and Memorial Museum of H. Skovoroda is located. The exhibition presents a surviving statue of a thinker from a museum destroyed by Russian shelling, which has become legendary.

Also here you can see Skovoroda’s portraits – from the only everyday to modern experimental ones – specially created for the exhibition comics by Ukrainian artists, listen to baroque music and play an interactive test game on tablets.

Volodymyr and Olena Zelensky thanked the organizers for the implementation of this project. They also acquired the complete body of works of the thinker Grigoriy Skovoroda. A complete academic collection of works”, prepared by a team of Kharkiv scientists under Leonid Ushkalov.
