According to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the European Union should pursue three main goals to achieve a sustainable and just peace and prevent a frozen conflict in Ukraine. She made these remarks at the conference of EU ambassadors in Brussels.

President von der Leyen emphasized that the war in Ukraine has become a strategic defeat for the Russian president. However, she pointed out that Putin's defeat does not automatically translate into a victory for Ukraine.

"As long as the war continues and we continue to meet the daily needs of Ukrainians, we should also try to focus on the way forward and what it means to support Ukraine 'as much as needed,'" von der Leyen stated.

In this context, she presented three goals that the EU should pursue:

"Firstly, our goal should remain a fair and lasting peace, not another frozen conflict. No one wants peace more than the Ukrainians," emphasized the President of the European Commission.

According to Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, there are three main objectives to achieve lasting peace and prevent a frozen conflict in Ukraine:

The primary path to achieving this is through President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula. Von der Leyen called on ambassadors to continue working to gather more global support for the Peace Formula.

Ukraine needs long-term security. It is essential to ensure a strong military force capable of defending Ukraine now and deterring Russian aggression in the future. This requires the expansion of European defense capabilities. Von der Leyen stressed the need to guarantee that no industrial bottleneck prevents Europe from defending itself and providing full support to Ukraine.

The best way to ensure stability and prosperity for Ukraine in the medium and long term is through EU membership. Joining the European Union is the answer to Ukraine's recovery, strengthening its democracy, and protecting it from future interventions.

In summary, Ursula von der Leyen emphasized these three goals to support Ukraine's path to lasting peace and stability.
