President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree appointing Serhiy Lupanchuk as the new Commander of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, replacing Viktor Khorenko, who had been in the position since July 2022.

The Special Operations Forces (SOF) are a distinct branch of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. SOF conducts unique operations both within Ukraine and beyond its borders, operating at tactical, operational, and strategic levels. The results of their missions are often confidential.

In a recent interview published on October 31, Viktor Khorenko, the former Commander of SOF, hinted at the significant success of SOF operations, suggesting that in the future, several books might be written about these achievements.
