President of Ukraine has signed the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Some Legislative Acts of Ukraine on the Resolution of Certain Issues of the Administrative-Territorial Structure of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea," adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on August 23 - the day of the third summit of the Crimean Platform.

The draft law was developed by the Representation jointly with the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the organization of state power, local self-government, regional development, and urban planning.

After the law takes effect - on the day following its official publication, decisions made by the parliament in 2016 and 2020 regarding decommunization and the new district division of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea will also come into force.

The main goal of the law is to prepare the groundwork for the de-occupation of the peninsula, as military and military-civilian administrations are being created to operate in the territorial communities.

In connection with this, the law also instructs the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to determine the territories and administrative centers of territorial communities in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea within one month and to establish district state administrations for the new districts within three months. It also calls for the submission of a draft law to the parliament outlining the specifics of restoring public authority in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea after de-occupation.

It is believed that this step is crucial on the path to de-occupation and post-war recovery of the Crimean Peninsula - the press service of the Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea
