The ruling party of Georgia ignored the vote in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the resolution that declared Vladimir Putin, the head of Russian terrorists, a dictator.

This information was reported by Echo of the Caucasus.

The PACE resolution on declaring Vladimir Putin illegitimate if he remains in power after the 2024 Russian elections was supported only by Ketevan Turazashvili, a representative of the Georgian opposition party "Citizens."

Members of the ruling party "Georgian Dream" ignored the vote. According to the head of the Georgian Dream delegation, Irakli Chikovani, some representatives of the ruling party are serving as observers in the Polish elections, and he had other commitments.

"I do not intend to coordinate our priorities with you, firstly. Secondly, I have explained to the public that we have attended PACE sessions in different years in different compositions, so there is no basis here. If we discuss something with the Russian Federation or talk about something, it is only for one purpose – the restoration of our territorial integrity and the situation of our fellow citizens in the occupied territories," Chikovani stated.

This is not the first instance where the ruling party of Georgia did not support a PACE resolution. In 2022, they did not join the call to recognize Russia as a terrorist state.
