Russian forces struck one of the Ukrainian Navy ships, killing one crew member and injuring several others.

This was reported by Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk.

"Regarding the information about the strike on one of the Ukrainian Navy ships: we confirm the fact of the attack. Work is underway to eliminate its consequences. The majority of the crew is safe, and the search for several missing sailors continues. Unfortunately, one crew member was killed and several were injured," Pletenchuk stated.

Meanwhile, Russian media claim the ship in question is allegedly the Ukrainian Navy’s reconnaissance vessel Simferopol.

Simferopol is a reconnaissance ship of the Ukrainian Navy — a medium-sized intelligence vessel of the Laguna project, designed for electronic intelligence operations based on the SRTM Project 502EM. It was built at the “Kuznya na Rybalskomu” shipyard, launched on April 23, 2019, and entered service in 2021.
