During a combat mission, fighters from the 73rd Marine Special Operations Center suffered serious losses in a battle in the Kherson region.

This was reported by the Command of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"During the performance of a combat mission, while engaging with Russian occupiers, warriors of the 73rd Marine Special Operations Center heroically died in battle.

Providing cover for the withdrawal of the main forces of the group after completing a special task, the soldiers engaged in their final battle, forever remaining in the ranks," the department reported.

The battle with Russian military personnel broke out on February 28 during the landing of a group in the occupied territories of the Kherson region in the area of the Tendra Spit.

It is known that a group on several boats was moving in the Black Sea waters to land on the coast in the specified area. Upon encountering the Russian forces and suffering losses in the firefight, it was forced to retreat. Currently, reliable information about the objectives and course of the operation conducted behind the lines in the occupied territories remains unknown.

Specialists from the 73rd Center specialize in carrying out complex tasks related to maritime operations. However, during the Russian invasion, they are also constantly deployed for conducting ground operations.
