The SSU exposed the head of the Odessa customs laboratory for bribery

The Security Service exposed the head of the Odessa department of expertise and research of the specialized laboratory of the State Customs Service for corruption.

The official established a mechanism for systematically extorting money from businessmen.

For bribes, the official promised importers of food products not to create artificial obstacles during quality studies of foreign goods imported into Ukraine.

In addition, he “guaranteed” entrepreneurs an “accelerated” process of drawing up relevant documentation with positive examination conclusions.

The official demanded $300 for each “extraordinary” study.

Dozens of representatives of commercial structures that shipped foreign products to Ukraine passed through the customs laboratory in Odessa every day.

Employees of the SSU documented numerous facts of the perpetrator receiving illegal benefits.

The police detained the suspect at the workplace while receiving another bribe.

The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.

The perpetrator faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
