NEC "Ukrenergo" and the Swedish company Ingrid Capacity have signed a memorandum of understanding, which involves joint development of energy storage technologies in Ukraine.

"I signed a memorandum of understanding with the member of the board of the Swedish company Ingrid Capacity, Ibrahim Bailan. This company specializes in the development of energy storage systems in Northern Europe and is interested, even before our Victory, in developing such technologies in the Ukrainian energy system," wrote the head of "Ukrenergo" Volodymyr Kudritsky on his Facebook page after signing the memorandum during the Rebuild Ukraine conference in Warsaw.

According to him, "Ukrenergo" is ready to provide maximum support to this process by providing the necessary information and helping integrate energy storage into the Ukrainian energy system.

"Our modeling shows that over the next few years, for further growth in the 'green' energy system and its balancing, it is necessary to have 0.8 GW of energy storage systems," the CEO reported.

As Kudritsky explained, currently, "Ukrenergo" has repaid the debt for ancillary services, which are one of the main sources of income for creating energy storage.

"And now we are negotiating with the regulator (National Commission for State Regulation in the Energy and Utilities Sector) regarding auctions for long-term (3-5 years) contracts for ancillary services so that an investor can attract credit capital under such contracts," he noted.
