In the early hours of October 10, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a successful strike on the "Khanskaya" military airfield in the Republic of Adygea, Russia. The airfield housed Su-34, Su-35 aircraft, and Mi-8 helicopters.
This was reported by the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian air defense was active in the target area, and a fire was recorded.
The airfield hosted Su-34 and Su-27 military aircraft. More detailed information on the damage is being clarified.
The operation was carried out by Ukraine’s Security Service (SSU), the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, and the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces. Joint Ukrainian operations targeting critical Russian military infrastructure will continue.
According to the SSU, 57 Russian aircraft were at the site during the attack, including combat and training planes, as well as helicopters. The airfield reportedly housed:
- 12 Su-34 aircraft,
- 2 Diamond DA42 aircraft,
- 37 L-39 aircraft,
- 4 Su-35S aircraft,
- 2 Mi-8 helicopters.
A large fire broke out after the strike, leading to the detonation of ammunition. The exact amount of destroyed equipment is still being verified, but satellite images confirm significant damage.
SSU sources also indicated that this airfield was used by the Russian military for refueling aircraft and launching missile and bomb strikes on Ukraine. Local authorities have announced an evacuation due to the large fires at the site.
Simultaneously, drones from the SSU, Main Intelligence Directorate, and Armed Forces struck a warehouse storing Iranian Shahed drones near the city of Yeysk. The attack resulted in several powerful explosions, causing a fire and ammunition detonation at the drone storage site.
Representatives from Main Intelligence Directorate stated that joint operations by the Ukrainian Defense Forces are steadily depleting Russia’s military capabilities. Ukraine is ramping up its ability to strike military targets deep within Russian territory.
