The volume of grain shipments at the borders with Hungary and Slovakia decreased in January 2025. At the same time, shipments to Romania and Poland increased.
This was reported by the Deputy Director of the Commercial Operations Department at Ukrzaliznytsia, Valeriy Tkachev, on Facebook.
He provided the daily average grain wagon transfer data at border crossings in January 2025 (over 31 days):
- Poland: 39.0 wagons/day (+1.25 wagons/day, or +3.31% compared to December 2024)
- Romania: 9.26 wagons/day (+4.06 wagons/day, or +81.57% compared to December 2024)
- Hungary: 36.23 wagons/day (-5.83 wagons/day, or -13.86% compared to December 2024)
- Slovakia: 23.52 wagons/day (-8.09 wagons/day, or -25.59% compared to December 2024)
“The overall daily average for grain cargo + oilcakes is 172 wagons/day; over 31 days in January 2025, this indicator decreased by 22 wagons/day, or 11.34%,” said Valeriy Tkachev.
He also noted that the daily unloading of grain wagons in the ports of Greater Odessa ranged from 1,000 to 1,500 wagons/day.
“The average daily unloading rate at the ports of Odessa region is 1,429 wagons/day; in January, this indicator increased by 192 wagons/day, or 15.52%. The number of wagons with grain moving towards the ports of Odessa region decreased (from 7,307 to 5,494 wagons; a decrease of 1,813 wagons, or -24.81% in January),” he added.
The accumulation of grain wagons towards the Izmail port decreased by 105 wagons, or 28.46% (from 369 to 264 wagons). The average daily unloading rate at the Izmail port is 45 wagons/day, with a decrease of 5 wagons/day, or 10.0% in January.
